Pay attention now, here comes the history

Known as the "The Little Clown" and "The Royal Dog of Madagascar", the Coton de Tulear is a Bichon type, related to the Bichon Frise and the Maltese.

All the Bichon family date back to Roman times when it was the little white European dog.

When Europeans colonised the "3rd World" some 4 centries ago, they took their little white dogs with them. The French took their dogs to the Indian Ocean islands, and they were re-introduced to France in the 1960's.

They were recognised as a breed in 1970, and the 1st French Champion was crowned in 1977.

There were several sightings of the Coton in the UK in the 1980's but it was 1998 before the serious introduction to the UK began, and then 3 litters were born in 2001. The Coton de Tulear had arrived.

At COTONADOR we've played our part in establishing the Coton here.

LOTTE was born in 2002 from only the 4th litter born in the UK, and went on to excellent show ring sucess in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

ALFIE was born in 2006 and qualified for Crufts with Best Puppy at his first Championship Show. He's won well at all his shows - culminating in 2 FIRSTS at CRUFTS 2007.

KIZZY completes the picture of our home-bred Cotons, and these 3 are one each from the 3 biggest breeders in the UK.

With the arrival of BETTY from France, we've introduced a completely new bloodline into the UK.

Betty's sire is Scoubadou de'l Arch d'AnyWhite, a top winning Coton in France from Diabolo Swing stock. Her mother is Roxanne du Prince des Oliviers who was born to Manon du Clos de Chante Soleil, fathered by Toliary's Whites Omaley.
